It's looking a little different around here! It's been awhile since I've given my blog a fresh coat of paint, and I thought maybe a facelift would help keep my motivated to continue regular blogging. The new design just screams springtime and fun, so hopefully it does the trick. Here's to hoping anyway.
Have you ever used The Cutest Blog on the Block? I think I've gotten every blog design I've ever used from this website. They have the cutest backgrounds and headers, a huge selection, and it's all free! They also do customizable blog designs for those who want something more original, but I'm all about free stuff. I'm cheap that way.
Please let me know in the comments if the fonts or colors are difficult to read. They all seem pretty great to me, but I know all screens are different. I love how much Blogger lets you customize every last detail now. The font selection is huge compared to what it used to be. Is it sad that I got excited over that? Yes?
Well, I'll just go back to eating another homemade molasses cookie then. They were a special request from Baby 2.0.

My Direction
I'm back! Again! Yeah, bet you're sick of reading that every few posts. Whoops.
I've decided that the reason I've been such a horrible blogger these past few months is because I've lost my blogging direction. When I first started writing this blog, it was to chronicle our new life as a military family. I knew we'd be moving away from family and friends soon, and I wanted a way to keep everyone updated on what was going in our lives. For awhile, that worked well.
But once we settled into our lives here in Kansas, I didn't have a lot of military stuff to post. Our lives are just like everyone else's...most of the time.
I think the fact that I read some pretty awesome blogs also hindered the writing of my own. I always feel pressured to write a certain way because of what else seems to be out there in the blog world. Many bloggers give each post its own little theme, highlighting one specific thing in their lives that they want to share. Others chronicle the going-ons of their day, throwing a modpodge of ideas into one post.
I think I need to be somewhere in between. And to stop feeling the pressure. And to just write again. I miss writing. With all these other hobbies I've picked up, writing has fallen to the wayside.
So bear with me. Again. As I try to get back into blogging multiple times per week. I do have some pretty awesome things to share with you all so I'm hoping all the excitement around here will inspire me to blog more. Fingers crossed!

I'm Alive
In case you were worried, I'm alive!
I can't believe I haven't been an active presence here for almost three months! That is definitely the longest hiatus I've had, and I don't like it one bit. I've almost written posts dozens of times, but it's always hard to come back once you've left.
At first, it was because I had an almost overwhelming response to my crochet hats, and I was busy day and night filling orders. In a six week span, I completed almost 50 hats! It was fun and exhausting, and although I loved it, I'm glad the chaos is over. It gave me a taste of being a working mother, and I'm not altogether sure I'm ready for that.
Throughout all of that, was the holidays. My parents visited us for Thanksgiving which was a lot of fun. We weren't able to visit our families for Christmas, but we had a blast celebrating the holiday weekend with our amazing friends here on Base. And then only a few weeks later, we celebrated Evie's 4th birthday. We've been busy to say the least.
But I think a big part of my absence is that I've just been really stuck in my own head lately, and not ready to share any of my thoughts. This last year has been a tough one for many reasons, and although I've learned a lot of positive things about myself, I think I needed time to decompress. I'm essentially a very optimistic person, but sometimes life just kicks you too many times.
I'm ready to start sharing again, though. I'm ready to get outside my own head, and start living life instead of just merely going through the motions. It may be rough going for awhile while I get my groove back, but since writing is such a monumental piece of myself, it's essential that I jump back in.
So I'm back!

Thank you
Today marks a momentous blog day for me. It's not a day I've been actively striving for, but it still feels great to achieve it regardless.
Today, I have my 50th follower! Yay!
I know I have anonymous readers who aren't "technically" followers so I may have "technically" reached this milestone a long time ago. But that doesn't make this moment any less stupendous.
So thank you, readers. Thank you for continuing to come back for more and more of my random musings. I know I've been sporadic in my blogging the last few months, but I have lots of good fuel for blogging that's just burning to be written. I've just got to wait for the right moment to unload it.

Some Changes
Whoa! What happened?
If that's how you felt when heading on over here today, sorry! I made a lot of changes, but I think they were all for the best.
When I started up this blog back in January, Michael had just left for BMT. I wanted a medium that I could write down my thoughts when it came to the whole military experience, and something that could be used to keep family and friends informed of our lives once we moved.
Back then, I really didn't know what I was doing. Or what I wanted to write about exactly. Or if I would even keep up with it. So I just picked a name on a whim, slapped a layout together and took off with it.
Eight months later, and the blog has evolved far more than I had ever imagined. I now have a clear idea of what I want this blog to be.
And it's for that reason that I changed the name. Our Military Adventure was too narrow a scope for what this blog is about. I write about parenting, social issues, my dreams and my frustrations as well as the military. It's not just about our lives in the military, but about our lives in general.
A lot of what I write on here is random so I think the new title fits. I find something to write about that I find interesting, and I just go with it. With the new title, I'll feel even more free to do so.
I changed the look of the blog along with the name so I'd feel completely free to go with my vision. I hope you like it, and stick around!
